Michael Espejo, 24, of Charlestown, faces charges of possession of a large-capacity firearm, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, carrying a firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, and possession of large capacity feeding device, the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office said.
Espejo was driving his car around 1:45 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 6, with several friends when police pulled him over for the traffic infraction, authorities said. Officers said they saw an open beer can in one of the passengers' hands and the trigger guard and slide of a pistol in the floor behind the front seat, the report said.
Officers found a 9mm semi-automatic pistol on the back passenger seat floor, and they found a live round in Espejo's pocket, officials said.
A judge ordered him held on a $7,500 bail.
